George’s line is the single most important chiropractic personal injury line of mensuration.
The line is drawn from C2 to C7 along the posterior aspect of each vertebral body.
The significance of the line is that is shows ligament tears and altered intersegmental vertebral movement.
If the line is broken and measure at more than 3.5 mm in the cervical spine you have a torn ligament.
If the line is broken yet between 1.0 mm and 3.5 mm this represents altered intersegmental motion.
Both alterations are significant injuries and can be measured and shown to a jury.
